A MAN has received a suspended sentence for sending a raft of malicious communications to an energy provider.

Mohammed Aziz Rhamon Miah pleaded guilty to seven counts of sending electronic communications with the intent to cause distress of anxiety to EDF Energy.

He was admitted to a further like offense in relation to the Ability Housing Association.

Poole Magistrates’ Court heard the crimes involved him sending threatening live chat messages, being abusive over the phone to staff and similar conduct in a voicemail.

Miah, 37 and of Mickleham Close, Poole, also pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and cocaine.

Court papers stated the offenses against EDF Energy took place between January and May last year.

The defendant received an overall sentence totaling 10 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, at the hearing on Monday, January 23.

He was ordered to take part in up to 10 days of rehabilitation activity and pay £213 court costs.
