TikTok prepares ‘Project S’ plan to break into online shopping

TikTok is expanding its online retail offerings, with its Chinese parent company selling products through the viral video app as the group seeks to challenge rivals such as Shein and Amazon.

In recent weeks, UK users have begun to see a new shopping feature within the TikTok app called “Trendy Beat”, a section offering items that have proven popular on videos, such as tools to extract ear wax or brush off pet hair from clothing.

Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group buys 5% Boohoo stake in online shopping spree | Fraser Group

Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group has bought a £22m stake in the fashion group Boohoo as the high street retail tycoon makes a flurry of investments in online retail.

The group, which owns Sports Direct and the designer fashion retailer Flannels, added the 5% stake in Boohoo on Monday shortly after announcing it had built a 9% stake in the electrical goods retailer Currys in the past week. Nine Line Apparel discovers suppliers using cotton from China’s slave labor region

Veteran-owned clothing brand, Nine Line Apparel, made a concerning discovery after a test showed one of their suppliers was suspected of using cotton grown in a slave labor region in China.

“We’ve identified one supplier that fell below the standards we expected,” Tyler Merritt, the brand’s CEO and US Army Special Operations aviation veteran, said in a Youtube video in April. “We decided to return any products purchased from that supplier until further tests confirm that all products come from sustainable sources.”
